The Expert System is a rules based inference engine that can be used for monitoring, analyzing, repairing and optimizing operational infrastructure in many markets such as electrification, manufacturing or smart buildings. The Expert System can run in two modes of operation:

  • Batch mode - the user provides data to the system usually as files and the system produces automated written reports including a root-cause-analysis (RCA).
  • Continuous mode - the system continuously reads data from the operational environment, analyzes the data, and produces real time alerts, dashboards, as well as automated written reports.

The Expert System consists of several key components including:

  • Algorithms - analytics that take batch or streaming data as input and process the data looking for trends, signatures, anomaly conditions, etc. to produce findings.
  • Domain model - a relationship graph that describes the way in which equipment, its component parts, faults, root causes and other environment variables relate to one another.
  • Rules - that leverage the domain model and the findings from the algorithms to make decisions on reporting and actions to take in response to the findings.
